“It has to be beautiful, comfortable and spacious”: that is the wish that Beate N. confided to her family of four when they bought their cottage in Brandenburg just after German reunification. Lying on the banks of the Elbe, the house was a welcome alternative to a rented flat in the city. It was love at first sight. In order to bring some shine back to the grade II listed house, the family invested a lot of time, manual labour and dedication in the years that followed. And it paid off: the little cottage became an oasis of calm and relaxation for the family.
Today, some 30 years later, the old walls are once again starting to show their age, and “footpaths” and other signs of ageing are beginning to form on the floor. In order to preserve the family’s retreat for the future, Parador supported the project as part of its “40 Years, 40 Projects” campaign, providing bright, rustic oak white pore wide plank engineered wood flooring for the dining room and entrance area. Now, walking around barefoot is a delight.
“Gorgeous, cosy, smart, comfortable, light and much better insulated,” beams Beate, describing the new lease of life the engineered wood flooring has delivered.

The dining room used to be relatively dark, which is why the ideal flooring was something that could bring a little light.
The strong grain and the vibrant colours of the engineered wood flooring match the house’s rustic style perfectly. Just ask the neighbour's cat!
