From café to designer apartment

Who:
Lena M.
Where:
Hamburg-Altona
What:
An old café
With what:
- Oak White Pore Wide plank
It was love at first sight: “I simply had to talk to the craftsmen in the old café and dig a little deeper.” A stroke of luck, because that’s how Lena M. contacted the owner and secured the beautiful rooms for herself - in Hamburg-Altona, one of the most sought-after districts of the Hanseatic City. The graphic designer had been very homesick after living in Copenhagen, Vienna, and Berlin, so she returned to Hamburg where she wants to follow her passion for design and interior design. “I enjoy living in a “special” place,” and so the old café was just the right thing. A historic corner building, folding doors, and lots of space - but old, worn terracotta tiles gave the space a 70s look and absorbed daylight. Parador supported her project with bright, engineered wood flooring “Oak White Pore” to let Lena's dream of a designer apartment come true. The wide plank flooring reflects light and brightens the space. Her highest praise: Strollers frequently ask if they may take a look inside. And of course there’s still coffee - but only for her many friends.

Lena M. is a 27 year old graphic designer and typographer - and today she's also a floor installer. It's very easy.

The engineered wood flooring is simply placed on top of the tiles. An underlay protects the wood while compensating for uneven patches.

Lena’s dad Uli helps to install the new floor. He has four daughters, so there’s always lots for him to do.

The white finish of the oak white pore reflects daylight and ensures brightness - even on the ground floor.

Our oak white pore engineered wood flooring is “Blue Angel” certified and has the PEFC seal for sustainability.
